[October 10, 2009 – Los Angeles, CA] We are extremely excited to announce the World Premiere of YEARDLEY at the 2009 Santa Fe Film Festival. The festival is to be held from the 2nd to the 6th of December, 2009 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

This marks the feature film debut of writer/director Heath C. Michaels. “I am honored to hold our world premiere event in the Santa Fe Film Festival,” said Michaels after receiving the news, “We have a lot of work ahead of us to ensure this is the best premiere for the film possible, and we’re thrilled to be included as part of such a wonderful festival.”

YEARDLEY is a dramatic feature film that follows a married narcissist who cannot think beyond his own sexual needs. After being fired for sexual harassment, his wife and child leave him. While fighting to keep his family together, he falls victim to a ploy by two manipulative women who make a bet to see which of them can sleep with him first.

The film’s credits include Producer Paul Papadeas, Associate Producer Heather Byrd, Cinematographer Tarina Reed, Music Composer Steve Pedulla of the famous rock band Thursday, and Editors Keven Hickman and Zene Baker. The cast includes Jesse Bernstein, Saskia Grace Holmes, Garrett Geoghegan, Rebecca Holopter, Madison Palasini, and Dave Huevel.

Award winning documentary, MADE IN PAKISTAN, is an insider’s look into “The Most Dangerous Country in the World” as a cover story in Newsweek Oct 29th 2007 called it. The documentary follows the lives of four Pakistani working professionals – two women entrepreneurs, a politician and a lawyer. These four individuals represent a multifaceted Pakistan – a country where politics, fashion, religion, debate and tradition intermingle – where one definition of an Islamic State no longer holds true.

MADE IN PAKISTAN was released theatrically in Pakistan on July 31st 2009 – it is the first documentary ever to be released theatrically in Pakistan! The documentary recently won the Audience Choice Award at the SAIFF Film Festival in NYC. MADE IN PAKISTAN was also invited to screen at the Mumbai Film Festival Nov ’09 – the only film from across the border to do so.

In the spirit of Activist Cinema, the Producers of MADE IN PAKISTAN have joined hands with the non-profit organization, Developments in

Literacy DIL (www.yourdil.org) to create awareness for the urgent need to fund schools for girls in Pakistan. Ayesha Khan will talk about this amazing organization of Pakistani American professionals who fund close to 150 schools in Pakistan.

Santa Fe Film Festival – which runs December 2-6, 2009 – celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.  Festival organizers have set their sights on becoming a world-class festival. “Building on the New Mexico film industry’s exciting momentum, we’re working to create a festival that may one day take its place alongside international counterparts like Toronto and the Sundance Film Festival,” the festival’s new operations director Karen Redhawk Dallet said.

• World permier of Char.ac.ter a conversation about character acting between Dabney Coleman, Peter Falk, Charles Grodin, Mark Rydell, Harry Dean Stanton that includes a very special interview with Sydney Pollack, his last.  Drago Sumonja’s documentary takes us into the hearts, minds, and living rooms of some of America’s greatest storytellers.  Coleman, Rydell and Lynch are attending.

• Staring George Clooney, the Centerpiece Gala film, Up in the Air is directed by Jason Reitman, the Oscar-nominated director of Juno and Thank You For Smoking.  A corporate downsizer and consummate business traveler who, after years of staying happily on the road suddenly finds himself ready to make a real connection.

• Co-winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes, Thursday’s Gala film Fish Tank is an engrossing drama of a rebellious 15-year-old girl, her strained home life with her mother and her even more turbulent relationship with her mother’s new boyfriend.  Written and Directed by Andrea Arnold.

• Youth in Revolt, a coming-of-age comedy that puts a fresh and outrageous stamp on a tale of adolescent obsession and rebellion, is the Saturday Gala film.  Starring Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad) and Steve Buscemi and directed by Miguel Arteta.

• Emily Blunt and Rupart Friend star in the Closing Night Gala film directed by Jean-Marc Vallee’s, The Young Victoria.  On the eve of her 18^th birthday and succession to the English throne young Princess Victoria (Blunt) is caught in a royal power struggle.  But it is her blossoming love affair with Alpert (Friend) that will determine the strength of her reign.

SANTA FE FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATES ITS TENTH ANNIVERSARY

‘A Turning Point Year’

SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO, NOVEMBER 16, 2009 – The stars will be shining on the Santa Fe Film Festival this year, in its tenth anniversary season. Oscar winning actor Tommy Lee Jones will be honored along with Oscar nominated actress Ellen Kuras and Santa Fe’s own Wes Studi.

The festival – which runs December 2-6, 2009 – faces a pivotal year. Jon Bowman, founder and longtime festival director who devoted his time and love of film to the festival will retire after this year’s festival.

Enter Karen RedHawk Dallett, the festival’s new operations director. Dallett has been working round the clock with the support of the Santa Fe Film Festival Board of Directors to create a new kind of festival. “This is a turning point year. We are working tirelessly to create a festival that may one day take its place alongside its international counterparts like Toronto and Sundance Film Festival,” said Dallett.

Gov. Bill Richardson has thrown his support behind this effort as well. “With the momentum surrounding its tenth anniversary celebration, the Festival is emerging as one of the more distinguished film festivals both nationally and internationally,” said Gov. Richardson.

He sees the Festival as part of a broader, more ambitious vision of the New Mexico film industry. Thanks to Gov. Richardson’s film incentive program, as well as the new state of the art Albuquerque Studios – one the largest and most sophisticated professional stages in the country – and the soon to be built Santa Fe Studios, the Governor’s vision has been realized. In fact, in a recent online pole conducted by Variety Magazine, New Mexico was ranked No. 3 in the country for being among the best places for filmmaking.

“Governor Richardson, the New Mexico Film Office, Albuquerque Studios, Santa Fe Studios, IATSE 480 – these organizations and others have set the stage to make New Mexico a world class film industry,” Dallett said. “They have challenged local businesses and organizations to help develop this industry. We will meet that challenge.”

This year, the festival has expanded its workshops, panels and demonstrations to better serve local filmmakers. “We are creating a forum for creativity and innovation catering to everyone from the professional working film artists, to our homegrown talent who are interested in exploring film as a profession – and everyone in between,” said Dallett.
